What Have Yall Found That Helps The Aweful Pain With Eoe Flare Ups?

Justin asked a question πŸ’

Heat has been the only option for me. But whe. Its flared up bad it just stays and every now and then itll ease up my body relaxes enough to fall asleep. This does take time to get to that point. I use hot baths and a heating pad. Its the only release i can get. Doesnt always work. But my flare ups last anywhere from 4 to 12 hrs of constant pain, dizziness, and absolutely sick to my stomach where i have to force myself to throw up. Even if there is nothing on my stomach i take in water to perform the action. Which this is weird, throwing up helps releave the pain for a short time and i can lay down and hopefully beat the pain before it comes back and go to sleep.

Question: What helps manage the severe pain during EoE flare-ups?

There are several treatment approaches that can help manage EoE flare-ups:

1. Prescription medications:
- Proton pump inhibitors to reduce stomach acid
- Topical steroids to reduce inflammation
- Dupilumab (Dupixent) for those 12 and older
- Budesonide (Eohilia) oral suspension for ages 11+

2. Lifestyle modifications:
- Stay well hydrated throughout the day
- Gargle with warm salt water to soothe throat irritation
- Work with your doctor to identify and eliminate trigger foods It's important to work closely with your gastroenterologist to develop an effective treatment plan for managing these severe symptoms. While heat therapy can provide temporary relief, the frequency and severity of your symptoms suggest you may benefit from adjusting your current treatment approach. Please discuss these severe flare-ups with your healthcare provider, as they can help determine the best combination of treatments for your specific situation.
