Anisa Shaker, M.D.

Dr. Shaker is an associate professor of medicine and director of the Swallowing and Esophageal Disorders Center in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. After earning her medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin, she completed her internship and residency at Brown University-Rhode Island Hospital, followed by a gastroenterology fellowship at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Her research program is focused on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms of esophageal injury, repair, and inflammation. In addition to her research, Dr. Shaker leads a multidisciplinary clinical practice dedicated to the care of patients with swallowing and esophageal disorders.
